After breakfast at the hotel, we depart Maun at 9am, driving to Moremi Game Reserve. After a couple of hours, we enter the true wilderness area where we are likely to start seeing wildlife. We will be stopping along the way for morning tea in the bush and then later, a picnic lunch. We spend the rest of the day on a game drive through Moremi Game Reserve, arriving at our first campsite at around sunset – 6 – 6.30pm, though this can vary depending on the wildlife sightings.
14 May.
5.15am wake up, followed by a breakfast of porridge, toast and cereal around the campfire. There is of course coffee, tea and hot chocolate in abundance. We always aim to leave on our morning game drive around 6.30am to make the most of the cooler hours when the animals are most active. After breakfast we have a game drive to one of the boat stations for a short motorboat cruise on the channels of the Okavango Delta. Following this we continue our game drive through Moremi Game Reserve. We will have morning tea in the bush. Lunch at camp will be around 12-12.30pm. We then have the middle hours of the day to snooze, shower, read, do some laundry etc. until 3.30pm, when we leave on our afternoon game drive, which returns to camp around 6.30pm. (Flexible).
15 May.
5.15am wake up. Followed by breakfast and a morning game drive. Morning tea is taken in the bush. Back in camp for lunch at around midday. We have free time after lunch until 3.30pm, when we depart on our afternoon game drive. Back in camp for dinner at around 6.30pm.
16 May.
Today we drive to Khwai Game Reserve. We have the usual 5.15am Wake up. After breakfast we depart for Khwai on what is a full day’s game drive through wilderness areas, with the expectation of animal sights all the way. Morning tea is taken in the bush and we will enjoy a picnic lunch on the way. We expect to arrive at our new campsite around 6.30pm (flexible).
17 May.

Then we begin our drive to Kasane airport to arrive at around midday in order to either check in for the 2.10pm flight to Johannesburg or for onward transfer arrangements to accommodation in Kasane, Victoria Falls or Livingstone. We will have morning tea on the way. Around half of the trip to Kasane is through wilderness areas where we can still expect to see wildlife. The other half is a very pleasant drive on a sealed road alongside the Chobe River. At Kasane airport your escort will assist you through the check-in procedure for your flights and make sure that your road transfers are all in order.

I, Peter Emery have been in the travel industry since 1991 and have been specializing in Africa since 1997. Jacky and I have made dozens of trips to the African continent, including escorting camping safaris in Botswana. We have been fortunate enough to experience the very best accommodation and game viewing that there is. We want to share it with as many people as we can. That is how we help to save and maintain Africa's incredible wild places, fauna and flora. The more people that experience these precious things, the less likely they are to disappear forever. So please, use our experience to make your safari the very best that it can be.
Attention to detail is vital. You expect your transfers to be there when required. You expect dietary requirements to be noted and taken care of. Our partners in Africa have vast experience of such things and we will always supply you with reliable emergency contact details for the very, very rare case of something going awry. You will never be left to deal with such events alone, and you will always find that nothing is too much trouble for our Africa based partners.

Most luxury lodges are all inclusive. That means that your meals, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and soft drinks are included in your nightly rate. Where possible your arrival at your lodge or camp will be timed shortly before lunch. Sometimes you will have flown to a commercial airport, at other times you'll fly into a private bush airstrip on a light aircraft. You'll be met and transferred to your luxury accommodation, often by the guide who will be looking after you for the duration of your stay.
You'll be shown to your accommodation and will have time to freshen up before lunch, after which you'll be free to rest or sit with a quiet glass of wine until high tea - cakes, sandwiches, tea, coffee and soft drinks. Then directly after this you are off on your first game drive which generally lasts between 3 and 4 hours. Then it's back to camp to freshen up before a sumptuous dinner. In most cases after dinner you'll be escorted back to your accommodation either by a guide or one of the security staff. Your safety in the bush is paramount.
In the morning you'll get an early wake up call and a light breakfast before heading out on your morning game drive, again 3 or 4 hours. Then it's back for a cooked brunch, after which your time is your own until high tea, though many camps and lodges offer short guided bush walks after brunch. These are highly recommended. Halfway through the game drives you'll be offered coffee and snacks in the morning and your favourite alcoholic drink in the afternoon, again with snacks. One thing's for sure - on an African safari you WILL NOT lose weight.
